• 1 pkg yeast
  • 1/4 c water
  • 3/4 c milk
  • 1/2 c margarine
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 t mace
  • 4 – 4 1/2 c flour

Dissolve yeast in water.  In a separate bowl scald milk.  Then add margarine, sugar and salt.    After milk mixture cools add yeast and water mix, stir in egg, mace and flour.  Place in grease bowl and let rise in a warm place for 1 -1 1/2 hours.  Turn out, knead lightly.  Roll 1/4 inch thick, cut in 2 inch squares.  Let rise 30 – 45 minutes.  Fry doughnuts in solid vegetable oil.  Immediately toss in granulated sugar.
