8 to 12 tart cooking apples
1/2 c sugar
2 t cinnamon
1 T flour
pinch of salt
1 t lemon juice

Peal, core and slice apples. Cook apples in a skillet or sauce pan with sugar, cinnamon, flour, salt and lemon juice. Simmer, stirring frequently until apples are tender.

Great side with pork chops or pork roast. Also great as a dessert over vanilla ice cream or baked into a pie.

Pie – bake in a double crust pie shell, vented, at 400 degrees for 35-45 minutes. Use foil to protect edges from burning. Dust top with fine sugar immediately after removing from the oven.

note : apple sweetness varies form variety to variety, taste apples as they cook, you may need to add more sugar.
