1/2 c margarine
1 1/2 c onions, finely chopped
1/2 c flour
8 c chicken or vegetable broth
1 1/4 c potato buds (Betty Crocker)
4 c 1/2 and 1/2 cream
1/2 t seasoned salt
1 t basil
1/8 t tobasco sauce
6 c potatoes, pealed, diced and cooked

Melt margarine in a large sauce pan, saute onions, stir flour in well. Add broth slowly, stirring constantly. Add all other ingredients, but potatoes. Cook 1/2 hour then add potatoes, cook additional 1/2 hour.

Garnish with chopped green onions, shredded cheddar cheese, crisp bacon and/or sour cream.
