Bowl 1
1 package yeast
1 1/2 cup warm water (110 degrees)

Bowl 2
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons margarine

5 1/2 cup flour

Bowl 1 in a mixing bowl dissolve yeast in warm water.

Bowl 2 in a glass microwaveable measuring cup scald the milk, stir in sugar, salt and margarine. Cool to lukewarm then add to bowl 1

Using a dough hook add flour to the mixing bowl, mix well until dough is a unified soft ball.

If you don’t have a dough hook mix the flour in with a wooden spoon and Knead until soft and elastic.

Place in greased bowl, let rise ~ 1 hour. Punch down, let rest 15 minutes. Divide into 2 loaves, place in greased pans. Cover, let rise ~ 1 hour. Bake 400 degrees about 15-20 minutes. Brush warm loaves with margarine.

Variation: Raisin Bread – Divide dough into 8 parts, roll out 1 part, brush with melted margarine, sprinkle with sugar mixture, roll up, place in small bread pan, bake 375 degrees 10-12 minutes.
Sugar mixture for 8 loaves
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup raisins

Alternate Sugar Mix
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 cup cup white raisins
zest of 1 orange

Top cooled loaves with icing.
